I can't say caging thousands of young black men for crimes that are never enforced in white neighborhoods is worse than the annual road deaths. But just like with the war on drugs and guns, it's a false choice. We can address road deaths without empowering the police state.

Further, a lot of the issues around speeding is outgrowths of our inability to trust police to enforce speed limits without doing dumbshit or unethical shit. So we become less keen to enforce it.

One could simply point out the tech necessary to enforce his policy would create avenues for increased surveillance in a state that already over surveys its population and would grant further controls on us. Last I checked he didn't advocate merely for speed governs but dynamic speed limiting.
