Recently finished Death to the Landlords, and now reading City of Gold and Shadows, both in the Felse series. Landlords is set in India too, featuring Dominic. Enjoyed your article, Aubrey!

That would do it. Having work the world credits to you by name makes it easier to shrug at the work it doesn't. Strange arithmetic though - the books are the thing most people have actually read, and his name isn't on a single one of them.

The 1959 revisions are the part that really gets me - a second erasure layered on the first. McFarlane lost his name, then the books themselves lost whole chapters and every character who wasn't white. Two different kinds of tidying up, both sold as improvement.

The Stratemeyer arrangement is one of publishing's great quiet erasures. McFarlane wrote them and Franklin W. Dixon got the shelf space, the fan mail and the royalties. A house name is a remarkably efficient way to remove a person from their own work.

⚡️📚 #booksky #readingcommunity #writingcommunity Just finished Mike Lawson's McKenna's Guy. I have read most of his work & this one was okay. Didn't love it, didn't hate it. Always good to read in the genre you write in. Overall it is solid with interesting things happening in the opening.
