Got a bit depressed about it all again today, but then added some of our phone photos to our electronic photo frame and was reminded that I/we (despite everything) are still very lucky. There are still good times, there are still friends. Even if those things take their toll, at least they *are*.

I'm glad Beth is raising awareness, but I also hope she has good care because she's painting a massive target on herself for the worst of humanity. Even though she's literally an Olympian, people will still assume this is some failing on her part and it will never happen to them.

Maybe one day I'll write about the fallout of all of this, but it's still too raw: the compromises, the terrible medical care, the abandonment by long-term friends, the ableism, the prejudice, the endless additional admin and assessments, the deliberateness of the systems to grind you down to ash.

One day you're out trying to walk and 'push through' even though you feel terrible, and then at some point your legs, which up until then have regularly carried you miles, up mountains even, will refuse to hold you up and you will have to sit in the snow while your partner runs back to get the car.
