It's hard to get people to understand that 99.5% of SRE is trying to ensure no one is ever needed urgently for anything, ever. Including the little AI buddy they're selling. Like, if it takes a person off of on-call, that's great or whatever, but it's still reactive, and that's an antipattern

this is just rather depressing that the same week the second edition of the SRE book comes out detailing all of the various jobs that SREs do, even in the AI era, there are companies out arguing that you should fire all your SREs and replace them with their AI incident response bots.
