So what you are showing is that they were not traced, and in fact are rather different. Referenced, yes, but MtG owns that image not the artist, which means they also could have used it as a piece of reference in their art direction as "include" muiltiverse themes etc...

I think Magic is just in a weird place right now re: anything that sounds like accusations of art theft. After the one ring stuff everyone went out and got an axe to grind, and you gave them something that sufficiently resembled a new place to grind it.

"Just because it looks cool"? The new card is referencing the old card. That's the goal of it because that's the major theme of Reality Fracture. It was not an arbitrary artistic choice to reference the older piece.

It would be an obscene amount of work to message every artist associated with a reference on a magic card.

I decided to delete the thread about Jace and Breach. I'm still full of thoughts and feelings regarding interpretation of design, but I see that there are many differing opinions on the matter, so it's best to let it be. I do apologize for spreading my poor mood.
