Arthur is a nutria. Nutria has rough fur when wet. Beavers are silky smooth when wet. Major difference. If the beavers you wash or touch have spiky stiff uncomfortable wet hairs, you committed a very unfortunate misidentification. I recommend not touching such faux 'beavers'.
