@architectexture.bsky.socialIt's International Anti-Corruption Day. Some of Trump’s most blatant acts of corruption are well-known by now—the crypto coin; the pardons for friends and donors. Less known are a series of corrupt policy moves that are raising costs for you and your family. Some examples ⬇️
Show PostTravel. Trump killed a rule that would've required airlines to pay you cash—up to $775—if your flight was significantly delayed. The big airlines fought the rule every step of the way. They also gave big to Trump. He sided with them.
Show PostBank fees. Overdraft fees were slated to be capped at $5. Big banks lobbied aggressively against the cap. They make billions of dollars every year collecting these fees. Trump, predictably, sided with the banks.
Show PostMedical debt. Medical debt was on track to be removed from Americans' credit reports—an acknowledgment that people shouldn’t be punished for getting sick. The debt collection industry saw this as a threat and spent millions to oppose it. Then, like clockwork, Trump stepped in.
Show PostFood safety. Trump even repealed a rule seeking to limit salmonella contamination in our food. The big companies said they didn’t want to pay the safety and compliance costs. They found the money to donate to Trump, though—and he quickly returned the favor.
