That movie was so weird. A charming 60s romcom and suddenly this THING drops into it. It's like an entire second unit was working to sabotage the film, direction, writing, everything seemed like "well this is a nice story, but can we have a Jerry Lewis level manic racist just photobomb the film?"

I'm not normally a curmudgeon when it comes to remakes. Generally my attitude is "why not?" However I've been recently watching a whole genre of classic Hollywood - the glorious technicolor remake of a relatively recent hit. And the results are (ahem) interesting.

"Cavalcade" is probably the least well known Best Picture winner in the whole history of the Oscars. Its a lowly status that this film probably deserves.
