No contradiction: *if* consuming humans were normalized, imitation human flesh would make sense by helping people transition away from the harmful practice. Today, it'd just be a major step backward. Nothing prevents you from being a vegan who avoids these products anyway. This is a red herring.

You've misread it again. He's saying that there is a difference in how humans & animals are perceived & treated by society & they aren't given the same rights. And that for vegans humans & animals are equal, so he is asking why is it socially and legally acceptable to eat animals and not humans.
