A wealth tax continues to promote the idea the persistence of poverty is beneficial through the ancient metaphysical idea that poverty creates wealth communicated by Aristophanes in his play Plutus. Hopefully, I was able to convey how wrong that idea is. We are all better off ending poverty…

That said, since poverty itself is a drag on the economy to the tune of 1-1.5%, those most invested in the economy stand to gain significantly from the end of poverty. A drag on the economy equivalent to poverty is taxation which also reduces economic growth to the tune of 1-1.5%.

As the graph of 1/x demonstrates, the same constant level of enrichment provides a benefit approaching infinity for those with income otherwise closest to zero and provides the least direct benefit to those with the most.

The last two could work, but the idea of a wealth tax comes from a metaphysical error that would destroy the idea of maintained. The belief that individual enrichment must come at someone else’s expense is exactly wrong. Enriching anyone enriches everyone participating in the economy.
