I can't believe he was dumb enough to say he would support injecting religion into laws. But, then again, he was dumb enough to go into a battle of wits against a smart, highly educated man completely unarmed.

He’s dealing with white nationalists. There’s a little chance that his exchange will impact this individual However, this is schooling the scores of people in Michigan who are being targeted by misinformation and fear mongering.  Many don’t understand how subconsciously racism works in them

It really was a perfect response. El-Sayed made Tommy look like a fool, a bigot and a hypocrite while using the gentle tone and measured words of an elementary school teacher explaining basic civics to the annoying hyper-entitled kid who induces classwide groans every time he raises his hand.

There is much to admire in Abdul El-Sayed's response to the GOP plant in his audience. But one of the most deft things he did was to point out (twice) that our Constitution protects our right to follow *no* religion, thereby casting Christian nationalist Tommy as the actual religious extremist.
