What we should do is create a pathway to citizenship that doesn't take years and cost thousands of dollars. Do a physical and a background check and swear them in as citizens. Unless they have a communicable disease or are guilty of violent or other severe crimes, let them work legally.

The vast majority came in legally. But what happens is visas expire and the system is so backed up it can take years and years to get paperwork processed and a full hearing. It is a civil misdemeanor like a speeding ticket to be here without a valid visa.

Our responsibility, IMO, is to make it be able to be done in a timely and affordable way. Right now it takes years and tens of thousands of dollars. When I applied in Panama a few years ago for a 'green card', it took 6 weeks and $1500 American dollars, which is there currency.

the system has been intentionally broken for decades in part bc of apathy on the gov part & bigotry towards the "other" entering the nation & diluting "traditional American Values " meaning white man culture and it doesn't "seem cruel" it is Barbaric when family kidnapped by masked thugs disappear
