It's like, you notice a difference between criticism of interests primarily associated with men and interests primarily associated with women. Even when they're equal amounts of bullshit, men's bullshit gets taken more seriously than women's bullshit.

Just because a space is dominated by women doesn't mean it can't have issues worth pointing out. It doesn't even mean it can't be misogynistic, unless you have some strange opinions about the tradwife-fluencer sphere. We have to be able to hold these two truths in our minds.

This is sort of the fundamental problem: the defensive posturing and accusations of misogyny do not arise ex nihilo. They arise from a misogynistic that hounds women for having interests and mocking every space that is woman-dominated as feminine, unserious and lesser. And yet!

Subjects like astrology and certain book genres like romance are very much not beyond critique, and shutting down any critical discussion with accusations of misogyny is frequently bad-faith and disingenuous. But, many folks *are* often misogynistically dismissive and not 'critical'.
