Silent Gen and first wave Boomer parents were pretty awful as a whole. They will tell you they raised "resilient, self-reliable" kids, but letting kids fend for themselves because they couldn't be bothered was just laziness. They didn't have a grand plan. They were just selfish and lazy.

And it wasn't just parents. It was teachers and coaches. Everyone a kid was supposed to be able to count on, they just couldn't be relied upon. Most of us survived this because what choice did we have. But not all of us got through it and none of us are unscathed. No one is being unfairly cut off.
