Show PostGot to love me a good earthquake trace. Via @earthquakes.au live stream on YouTube. Mag 4.4 Boorowa, NSW
Show PostDefinitely more than 70, but not all can be felt. GSWA field staff were easily feeling magnitude 2+ events while installing the seismographs. Nice to see the 24-hour "drum" image from the @earthquakes.au Seismosphere system featured. Data visualisation at its best! www.abc.net.au/news/2026-02...
Show PostThe test sensors captured a teleseism over the weekend: a magnitude 5.9 west of Macquarie Island, ~2000km from our office. The signal is very small, but the 10-15 second period surface waves are visible on the passive 2Hz geophone. Not bad for something 1/10th the cost of a broadband seismometer.
Show PostWe have the magnitude at 4.7, but if it is 5.2, that would make it the largest earthquake in NSW since the deadly M5.6 Newcastle earthquake in 1989
