"The Missing Missing Reasons" is as important as pedocon theory. The mean, median, and modal parental estrangement story is "shitty parents do awful things, kids give up in their mid-30s, parents pretend they only did good things and they have no idea what happened."

Moral panic my ass. And it's not just young people. We've each cut ties and/or limited contact with toxic relatives. If you're still alive, you have time to change behavior. I don't care if you're 9 or 90.
