It's because she was always hateful. She despised every type of person she could socially get away with despising. This made her distinctly unpersonable, so she made no friends. Her first true interpersonal bonds were with transphobes, her whole social life is built out of hate.

As someone who was literally read the harry potter books to in bed as a kid by my family, dropping the series entirely was still a non-issue and non-choice to me, and it baffles me that it is hard to others.. the fact trans people's lives are a choice or debate is still scary to me conceptually
