In the prose case, the LLM is making a bunch of “choices” about how to flesh out & resolve ambiguities in the outline it’s fed, in ways that may not even be apparent to a prompter who isn’t manually going through their own version of that process. You may not even notice there was a choice to make.

UC Berkeley Law creates new AI policy that bans AI for "conceptualizing, outlining, drafting, revising, translating, or editing any work submitted for credit" or exams because "thinking remains the sine qua non of good lawyering (and of a quality legal education)." That's what I'm talking about.
