For those not in the loop - RARE (Romance Author&Reader Events) are currently crashing out on Instagram and Threads because an LGBTQ+ book event dared to organise the same weekend as their (not even confirmed yet) own event - lots of authors are pulling out of their events in response.

The tables are like £500 each so any author pulling out will be eating a lot of sunk costs even if they can cancel flights and hotels. Not something to do lightly. Apparently several ppl are setting up replacement events to help out, though, which is amazing.

The Satanic Temple is an atheist semi-religious organization that treats the Lucifer story as an allegory for free thought and seeking knowledge. The Church of Satan has the mystics, though I’m not 100% clear if they believe in literal Satan or just reskinned Wicca.
