Along the walk, we made notes about the smells and discussed our experiences, as smells evoke emotions and memories. Then, we sat down and painted/drew on papers our representations of how the smellwalk felt to us. Here you can see the artworks we made - a collage and a smellmap.

As a master student of urban planning, I've spent the last year doing small studies about the human experience of place using sensory ethnography. Last semester, three participants and I did a smellwalk in a park and eco-village to investigate their smellscapes via direct immersion.
