I went into the space, asked the guy who sparked this whole thing multiple questions about his quality-control, and as a result he said, publicly, that he didn't do any fact-checking and implied he didn't have to because he isn't a journalist. I don't understand what I'm being accused of.

I spent a chunk of tonight on an X group chat thing with Rhine Amacher, the guy who 'broke' the now-debunked James Talarico story. It was me, a few other skeptical journalists, and a lot of MAGA folks. We were in the room when news came out that the hospital was flatly denying everything. Nuggets:

Not gonna fight on Bluesky about this but there are a number of damning things Amacher said that he likely would not have said if journalists weren't in that chat to pepper him with questions. I can't take full credit because I wasn't the only one but yikes have some perspective.
