there were two cool moments with this PR: 1. I made like 3 attempts to figure out topology attribute mapping myself, and eventually gave up and ranted about that on mdanalysis discord. Next day I woke up and someone mentioned they fixed it, and it was indeed fixed🤯

for this one I'm incredibly grateful to @bradyajohnston.bsky.social for picking up the PR where I left it, when I ran out of fuel to contribute to open-source, some time around beginning 2026. I'm really happy this work has seen end.
