I cut off my birth giver for decades of domestic abuse of multiple forms. I cut off the rest of my family years later because they refused to acknowledge her wrongdoing and instead of caring for my safety they would rather invite her to their hen-do and weddings.

I get on well with my parents and for that I am thankful, but I've seen friends hurt from inexcusable behaviour from their parents. From all I've seen, the abusive parents saying not to do this do not want reconciliation, they demand a right to continue hurting someone without changing their ways.
