@noelfb.bsky.socialIn fact, I've been developing some lightweight DSP effects for FMOD which wouldn't be too hard to port to another engine, but the engine has to exist first 😅
Show PostOh absolutely, I'm just using that to say that the scope of the task is so far beyond what is usually budgeted for audio tools on an indie project. I would love to contribute to an open source middleware if someone were making it!
Show PostOn a recent project we nearly managed an equivalent to an FMOD multi-instrument, but none of the other features 😅 I really want to believe that things will be fine... but the industry really has taught me to expect that acquisition = studio closure, sooner or later. Maybe it's different for tools?
Show PostYeah that's essentially what I've done in the past. Randomisation containers for SFX (pick from a set of clips, randomise pitch etc.) and monolith mixing (very simple & powerful) for dynamic music driven by often just a single parameter is enough for most games, unless you need REALLY dynamic music.
Show PostDunno if "Monolith Mixing" is actually the established term for it, it's just the only one I know of... If anyone knows a better name please let me know :)
