Aye, we can meck owt! My maternal grandad was a carpenter (as was his father). My Dad did a joinery apprenticeship before his Dad would let him come onto the family building firm. And I was always a Daddy’s girl so spent hours working with him and learning.

My Dad was the same, a very practical man. He was a sheet metal worker and tinsmith by trade but he'd do electrics, plumbing, building, anything really and he wasn't a cowboy at any of it. His favourite saying (excuse the vernacular) was "We can meck owt." With a grin. And he would, and often did!
