It's the same type of American Hukou arguments that make many New Yorkers look arrogant/chauvinistic. The whole thing with ICE should have taught us that everyone who wants to live here is our neighbor, even if they've only moved in a month ago.

It's a basic trope IMO, but context is key. Peggy wielding it against I'm-embarrassed-Tafoya? By all means. Literally anyone against Ilhan? We ride at dawn. It generally doesn't bother me, but I grew up* in the south where othering is on a whole other level. *Summers in MN, school year in hell.
