1/Toolkit: My favourite tool for so many reasons, KiCad, the open source circuit board design suite. Jean-Pierre Charras started it in 1992 at a university institute of technology in Grenoble, France. CERN later put engineers into it, and it grew into a professional-grade tool. #MyToolkit #KiCad

2/KiCad is the centre of my work. I teach it in my courses, including KiCad Like a Pro, and I’ve written books about it for Elektor. My own boards, like the ESP32 sensor board in my courses, are designed in it. #PCBDesign #KiCad #OpenHardware #MyToolkit

3/Why it matters? board design used to need expensive licences. With KiCad, a student, a small company or a public lab can design a professional board for free and share the files openly. Making things shouldn’t depend on budget or licensing. #OpenSource #KiCad #MyToolkit Do you use KiCad?

Yes, the newest Qwen model has been proven very capable, even though there only around 100k useful context on my RTX 3090 (24GB VRAM).
