It’s hard to describe how personal it feels, and how much the aftermath, the Patriot Act, the sense murder of hundreds of thousands in the Middle East, feels like a sacrilege against all who perished and all of us who witnessed the events of that day in person. It still hurts.
Show PostAnd when they got to the names of my friends I just cried and cried and cried. Can’t watch today. Don’t want to see photographs of smoking buildings and video of planes or hear Trump’s voice from that day. Sometimes silence is better.
Show PostIn 2003, when I was living in BPC, I walked two blocks from my apartment to sit across from the pit for the 9/11 ceremony. I just sat on the grass across the West Side Highway with thousands of other people as they read the names and rang the bells.
