I fight this battle with my grandmother on a regular basis. The taxes are paid (AT A HEAVY DISCOUNT FOR NYC) but she absolutely wouldn’t pay them if me and my mom weren’t keeping her honest.

Because she’s a senior citizen, not sure what you’re trying to catch/call out. She is eligible for multiple programs that reduce her tax burden, thankfully. She still doesn’t want to pay them, our family helps her pay them to retain the house.

America's roads are built for cars, not for people, and it shows. Credit New York City, not mentioned here, for putting considerable effort into slowing traffic down, putting in protected bike lanes, and increasing street furniture (which helps drivers pay more attention).

This is not beautiful to see. This is the most racist democracy on planet earth, and people just expect Black people to sing negro spirituals and "overcome." It's not working. This still happens for one reason and one reason only: white US folk don't hold each other accountable for this racism.
