Scilly day 5. We had a very long wait for a Crake, then two (Sora and Spotted) showed within minutes. Enjoyed a Pectoral Sandpiper on what was sadly its last day (taken by a Sparrowhawk). A YBW and an evening at the Scillonian with many friends completed our day.

Some good birding at Stert Point yesterday and today. 3 Leach’s Petrels this morning (inc. one that flew alone the shoreline about 100m out), Little Gull, Pale-bellied Brent Goose and c230 Sanderling. Last night a Manx Shearwater, 24 Kittiwakes, 2 Little Gulls and 2 Arctic Terns #somersetbirding
Show PostScilly day 4. A good day meeting lots of old friends. Bird wise: we managed to connect with the juv Rosy Starling which had eluded us, had more point blank views of the Wilson's Snipe and a controversial Caspian on the beach!
Show PostGood day on St Agnes. The American Pipit took a while to find among flocks of Rock Pipits feeding amongst seaweed. Also: Siberian Chiff Chaff, Grey Plover, Merlin and plenty of common migrants to enjoy.
