Every person working at these and the communities where these papers do business deserves better leadership than these absolute clowns.

His post encapsulates many things, but one is the very stark gender difference around AI hype and use. Can you imagine a woman making that statement? Have you read or heard any woman suggesting we offload family relationships onto AI? And surely you can imagine how she'd be excoriated if she did.

As a subscriber of a McClatchy newspaper and a former editor who had to manage a few layoffs, i can say this is exactly the wrong way to handle downsizing, disrespecting journalists and readers. Shameful.
