Are you going to pay for the affordable housing you want? If not, who is? Not a builder, who is not going to build something he is going to lose money on. Only building more housing reduces rent. But I doubt the cost of housing is your real issue. You just do not want you neighborhood to change.

I'm not pro-rent control, but it's annoying that landlords argue against rent control because "they need money to do maintenance" but then they get to have maintenance work be done on their own time and without any input from their tenant(s) even though they use their tenant(s)' money.
