Mine loved lots of gifts so on her 40th I gave her 40 gifts. Mostly small, only one expensive and she loved having to spend all day unwrapping. Plan B: "I'm taking you to lunch. Not telling you where until we get to the airport." Then I took her to a city she'd never been to

You know her better than anyone, but every year for my wife’s bday I celebrate her in a big way but keep it just between us and the kids. Thoughtful gifts and a day planned with her favorite things as well as time for herself if she chooses that.
