The paper does not estimate the future acceleration. Surface warming is going to accelerate to 3x the warming of 2013 by 2035. 2.0C will be reached by 2035 or earlier. 2.5C will be reached by 2045 by likely earlier The 2026 energy imbalance is the driver. Not interesting historical trends.

Surely the biggest barrier to emissions reductions continues to be our reluctance to get off fossil fuels. New clean energy is only meeting the increase in demand for energy, not displacing fossil fuels!
