Being GenX/Millennial is such a trip. In our lifetimes, we saw people our age getting wild criminal penalties for pirating music and now have to sit and watch as companies gobble up our work with impunity.

As for the question of where GenAI fits into this: maybe it can do some technical activities faster than humans. But why do we want cultural work to go faster than we can? What is the point? What is the goal? Who does it serve? What system? And what do we lose when we don’t do our own cultural work?

Have the courage to be bad at what you’re doing because that’s how you get good at what you’re doing. AI is fool’s gold because it promises you the ability to produce something good without getting good. You don’t believe in getting good at this thing. That’s why people don’t respect your output.
