I take my right to vote so seriously because people DIED fighting for it. Black men gained voting rights in 1870, but Jim Crow laws, violence, and intimidation kept generations from the ballot box. It took until 1965 to pass the Voting Rights Act. #ElectionHeroesVoteEarly 🧵
