Russell's character, Snake Plissken, wears an eye patch, and so when they were shooting, all of a sudden he had no depth perception. So they had to drill a tiny hole in the eye patch and then he could nail the basket every time. (Fun fact: Kurt Russell also played minor league baseball.)

I have no reason to think this was intentional, but imagine that you had brought your rifle to a kids soccer game, and somehow set it to full auto and then dropped it, spraying the crowd with bullets. Would you just be *let go* as long as you were "cooperating" with the investigation?
