I equated being assertive the same as being needy or spoiled, which are mutually exclusive to one another. Being too afraid to speak out n stand up for yourself, you might as well say you’re off the table, even invisible. It’s like breaking an old habit, it’s pretty engrained, but I’m getting there

After writing my personals ad and being more active on Fet, I’m gradually learning how to be more self-assertive and not think poorly of myself for doing so. Knowing what you want and what your boundaries are is not the same as being egotistical or selfish. It’s okay to have preferences n seek them.
