Probably making enemies here but: (1) Journals should not publish scale development or validation papers that don't disclose the actual items or make the scale freely available (2) Anyone who requires payment to some little rent-seeking shop for the use of their scales deserve to be ridiculed

I've been auditing research on patient-reported outcomes in the medical lit and it is WILD how many of these projects say oh yes we're open access, here's an open access paper, but the items? No the items are not available and not open. And you can't reproduce them.
