In theory, this is where a robust and well utilized games media would come into play. Valve would likely argue that they have tools in place for you use on their platform like reviews and recommendations, etc. but having external options is necessary.

Lack of profit motive, effective monopoly, and rigorous libertarian ideology means they have no reason to do anything. There's not an effective way for the audience and developers to pressure them either.
