Speaking of Descent, play Desecrators it's a really great little 6DOF shooter. Super smooth gameplay, very "3dfx" in its art style, pretty bullets, lens flares galore, and really cool enemy design.

Desecrators only recently left early access, but almost nobody knows about it. A free-flying '6 degrees of freedom' FPS in the vein of Descent. Specifically riffing off Probe's PS1/N64 cult hit Forsaken. Looks and sounds nigh identical, but has procedurally generated maps for endless roguey replay
