Because Gateshead is rock solid Labour you can afford to be very leftwing without losing the seat, so I assume he's partly a centrist because he has political ambitions beyond being a backbench MP.

Show PostAgreed! I think he's a centrist tho, very loyal to the Starmer wing. We used to have a good proper leftwing MP in Gateshead. Thing is, Gateshead is rock solid Labour there's no electoral risk with having proper socialist values as an MP there. So u might as well have good, solid, socialist stance
