I don't make a big thing about my atheism, but it is always nice to hear a candidate recognize the "or not at all" aspect.

It really was a perfect response. El-Sayed made Tommy look like a fool, a bigot and a hypocrite while using the gentle tone and measured words of an elementary school teacher explaining basic civics to the annoying hyper-entitled kid who induces classwide groans every time he raises his hand.

There is much to admire in Abdul El-Sayed's response to the GOP plant in his audience. But one of the most deft things he did was to point out (twice) that our Constitution protects our right to follow *no* religion, thereby casting Christian nationalist Tommy as the actual religious extremist.
