@mlobrien.bsky.social@mlobrien.bsky.social → @mlobrien.comGreat 🧵from #EduSkyAU on why it matters we step up in #STEM for #girls Newspapers cannot capture this type of data. These are stories by teachers. I have these convos at every school, with so many parents. One off PDs do not work. Ongoing dialogue does. #auspol ro.ecu.edu.au/ajte/vol46/i...
Show PostI also think one of the great things I saw you talking about at a conference once was the all girls STEM club. Unrelated, I wonder if there's tracking in K-12 schools of primary school teachers attitudes to STEM and and the uptake of optional STEM subjects in HS?
Show PostAbsolutely agree - everyone has a role to play but the early years define children’s belief about themselves as learners & if we don’t get it right then, HS Ts will be fighting an uphill battle. In HS there’s so much more pressure to teach content too but in PS that same pressure isn’t there
Show PostThe great thing about STEM Club is it sat outside of the core school hours and therefore the expectation to cover/learn certain things and we could genuinely explore personal interests 🤩
Show PostThe amount of girls who you nurtured and helped to blossom would be hundreds if not thousands if you look at how you have inspired other educators. You have done so much for the cause, we're lucky to have you in our corner, championing for all #girlsinSTEM #EduSkyAU
