I kinda wish this wasn’t so ambiguous because of the never ending argument it’s gonna spawn, but honestly it makes sense for the story. Jax is basically a snapshot of one of Leeroy’s most insecure moments. There’s many paths the real Jax can still take. Reminds me of how I Saw the TV Glow ended lol

The first time I saw it in the theater, I didn't even pick up that Jax might be trans. I think it's meant to be entirely up in the air for interpretation, and according Goose replying to Alex, it's pretty much perfectly okay how you want to entrepret Jax and be respectful to how others call Jax.
