Just finished Iron Wok Jan. Was fun from beginning to end, but it's VERY clearly an incomplete work to the point I feel bad this didn't come out in the 90s. They say hunger is the best spice, so I guess when they release part 2 in 5 years it'll be even better.

And he's a GOOD critic, too! He's able to keep up with whatever wild recipe Jan is cooking, and Jan lets him explain it to others so Otani looks like a genius for figuring it out, which makes him hate Jan MORE Otani is the only anime villain I've come across I could truly describe as Javert-esque

Funniest thing about Iron Wok Jan to me is it has an incredible villain, Nichido Otani, who is just a petty food critic who got annoyed by Jan. But because he's got influence he's able to use that to try getting back at Jan for a minor insult He throws a tournament specifically to humiliate Jan
