James plays for my home parish club. This is a very insightful interview by @cahairokane.bsky.social. In a county like Mayo, where we've lived & breathed football to an unhealthy level of fanaticism, it's refreshing to see a 27yo recognise that there is absolutely more to life. #MayoGAA #GAA

And fwiw I agree Kerry are too strong in these competitions more so at Munster level. Many's the afternoon I've been regretting life choices covering a game that's over after five minutes.

Re: pitch markings. Paul Rouse made the simple, but quite ingenious suggestion of having hurlers hit (what used to be) 65s from the half-way line. Gets rid of 2 lines on the field, declutters the look, makes it easier for refs to distinguish. Pretty good, no?

The toothpaste is never going back into the tube. I thought for a long time that professionalism could be stopped, but I was kidding myself. The battle was lost years ago. We were lucky to have seen as much of the best of the GAA as we did in our time. Amazing it lasted as long as it did, really.
