Was talking to oomf about roleplaying, and I think one of the main reasons I stopped with RP over time is because too many people will have a version of your character in their minds and just not be receptive to the fact that maybe they got it wrong and are projecting something that isn't real.

im old enough to have witnessed when fandom OCs were looked down upon and often seen as cringe but it’s great to see how welcomed they are in most communities nowadays. the rise in dnd/ttrpg popularity the last several years helped make fantasy OCs easy to digest too.

coming from a Fandom Artist background, chatting with other artists whose main passion is their own original characters is always so inspiring. nothing wrong with being a fanartist and it’ll never be something i’d fully walk away from, but it’s always so warming seeing love in one’s own creation.
