I hate to say it, but I'm pretty sure every major games studio will be using GenAI to write the code for their games. If it's taken over the games industry the way it's taken over the software industry, it's infuriatingly inescapable.

The fact that he's totally cool with people translating it into whatever language but doesn't want to tie his name (or his colleagues) to something official that he KNOWS will get heat no matter what from a ravenous fanbase is totally understandable. Tough situation though.

As someone in the manga sphere, I think this is actually very valid. When something gets an official translation, fans will get violently angry at the translators when it doesn't line up with the pirated scans they're used to. One Piece is the biggest manga in the world & STILL suffers from this.
