I'm sorry to hear that John Crowley has left the land of the living. Whenever we happened to meet, we talked about strange wonders and lost languages. He had a mind full of magical things, and was always delighted to discuss. May he travel to an interesting ever-afterlife.

Also, I just read Jo Walton's _Tooth and Claw_, and it was extremely charming. Perfectly normal Victorian comedy of manners (inspired by a Trollope novel) ... except that the characters are not humans but are instead dragons. (I think she's @bluejo.bsky.social On Here.)
